The RAF runs the UK’s Aeronautical Rescue Co-ordination Centre from RAF Kinloss in Morayshire. From here they co-ordinate military and some civilian (albeit Coastguard) rescue helicopters.
The RAF have helicopters based at six locations around the UK:
- Boulmer
- Chivenor
- Leconfield
- Lossiemouth
- Valley
- Wattisham
The Royal Navy have two:
- HMS Gannet (Prestwick Airport)
- RNAS Culdrose
HM Coastguard operate from four locations:
- Lee on Solent, Hants
- RNAS Portland, Dorset
- Sumburgh, Shetlands
- Stornoway Airport, Outer Hebridies
